News: Crash involving motorcycle kills 13-year-old, injures 2 others

PORTLAND, OR – According to KOIN6 News, a crash involving a motorcycle on Highway 99 left a 13-year-old boy dead and two others injured near Woodburn on Tuesday.

Authorities say the crash took place shortly after 9:30 p.m. near milepost 33 when a 17-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Classic was attempting to pass another vehicle on the highway. The driver lost control of the Chevrolet and swerved into oncoming traffic, striking a motorcyclist in the oncoming lanes. The Chevrolet rolled multiple times following the impact.

A 13-year-old boy passenger in the Chevrolet was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead on the scene. The 17-year-old driver and the motorcyclist both sustained injuries in the crash and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police continue to investigate this incident.
