MARION COUNTY, OR — A semi-truck caught fire Tuesday morning, creating a long traffic backup on Interstate 5 in west Aurora, reports KOIN 6 News.

The incident occurred on the northbound lanes, in an area south of Exit 278 to the Donald-Aurora interchange. By 8:00 a.m., the Oregon Department of Transportation indicated a traffic stall that spanned south to Woodburn.

It was unclear whether a crash caused the blaze, but motorists were advised to find alternate routes, as delays were expected to persist through 12:00 p.m.

At this time, officials have not disclosed any potential injuries or details about the involved parties.
