MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OR — One person died Tuesday morning after a series of crashes on Interstate 84 near Corbett, according to KATU.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal wreck occurred on the eastbound interstate near Dalton Point, prompting a closure at the Troutdale exit. It was first reported shortly before 7:30 a.m.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the crash, but several vehicles, including semi-trucks, were involved. At least six semis jackknifed and an undisclosed number of cars crashed. KATU crews noted inclement weather and challenging road conditions in the area due to a heavy volume of black ice.
By 9:00 a.m., all westbound lanes between Troutdale and Hood River were reopened as crews continued to work on clearing the eastbound lanes.
