PORTLAND, OR — One person died late Wednesday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash in northeast Portland that left another person seriously hurt, reports KOIN 6 News.

The fatal accident took place on Northeast Columbia Boulevard, west of Northeast 33rd Drive, in the city’s Sunderland area. Officers with the Portland Police Bureau were called to the scene shortly before 5:00 p.m.

Authorities have not revealed the circumstances of the wreck, but three vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved.

An occupant of one vehicle was discovered deceased at the scene, confirmed the PPB. An occupant in a separate vehicle was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

A section of Northeast Columbia Boulevard between Northeast 21st Avenue and Northeast 42nd Avenue was expected to remain shut down for an extended time.

An investigation was underway.
