PORTLAND, OR — One person died early Monday morning after a pedestrian crash in east Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood, according to KPTV.

The fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Southeast 146th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street. Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct officers responded to the scene shortly before 7:00 a.m.

It remains unclear what led up to the event, but officials confirmed the victim died from their injuries at the scene.

The driver stayed after the crash and cooperating with investigators.

A section of Southeast Stark Street between Southeast 143rd Avenue and Southeast 148th Avenue was shut down during the response.

At this time, no pending charges or citations have been reported. An investigation by PPB’s Major Crash Team was underway.
