PORTLAND, OR — One person was hospitalized early Sunday after their vehicle slammed into a TriMet bus stop in east Portland, reports KPTV.
Portland Police said the incident occurred at the intersection of Northeast 20th Avenue and East Burnside Street, in the Kerns neighborhood.
While the circumstances behind the wreck remain unknown, authorities believe high speed was a factor. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and eject the male driver, who was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Crews arrived on the scene to find pieces of concrete rubble and shattered glass strewn across the sidewalk and roadway.
A worker at a nearby business told KPTV crews that at least two other similar crashes have occurred at the intersection in the past several years.
At this time, no pending charges have been reported.
