PORTLAND, OR – One person is dead and another is injured following a hit-and-run collision in southeast Portland last night, KATU reports.

The driver responsible for the crash was discovered soon afterward and now faces several criminal charges.

Police say that a Honda Accord collided with a Toyota Camry near SE Holgate and McLoughlin Boulevards at about 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.

A passenger in the Toyota died at the scene, while its driver was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The three occupants of the Honda fled the scene on foot. Police quickly apprehended the two passengers, and caught up with the driver a short while later. That man has been identified as Ayzaiah J. Walker, 22.

Walker faces charges of manslaughter in the second degree, assault in the third degree, driving under the influence of intoxicants, and reckless driving.

A third vehicle entered the cordoned area and nearly hit an officer while police were working the scene of the initial collision. Its driver was determined to be intoxicated and was also taken into custody.
