PORTLAND, OR — Two Portland Police Bureau officers were hospitalized after a speeding vehicle hit a patrol car late Friday in southeast Portland, according to KOIN 6 News.

The collision occurred at the corner of Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast 67th Avenue, in the city’s South Tabor neighborhood.

PPB said the officers were traveling in a patrol vehicle with its emergency lights and sirens activated when the car was hit by another vehicle.

Both officers were taken to a hospital for treatment of “bumps and bruises” before being released.

It was unclear whether the driver of the striking car was hurt, but they refused medical attention. Officials said the driver has since received multiple citations for “careless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and speeding at least 31 mph over the posted limit.”

No further information has been made available at this time.
