MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OR — A man was arrested for driving under the influence Saturday night after crashing his car off Historic Columbia River Highway in Corbett, reports KATU2.
The collision occurred near the Vista House rest stop. Crews with the Corbett Fire Department responded to the scene shortly before 9:54 p.m.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, a 23-year-old man was intoxicated when his car crashed off the highway, went over an embankment, and ended up suspended in a tree.
Corbett Fire crews had to perform a high-angle rope rescue to extricate the male driver. It was unclear whether or not he was seriously hurt.
Tow crews were also called to the site to pull the vehicle back onto the roadway.
At this time, authorities have not reported details regarding charges.
