CLATSOP COUNTY, OR — A 12-year-old boy died Monday evening after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Cannon Beach, reports KATU2.
Oregon State Police said the fatal wreck occurred at the intersection with Sunset Boulevard, shortly before 7:00 p.m.
Preliminary details indicate a Toyota Corolla was heading southbound on the highway when it began making a left turn onto Sunset Boulevard. The passenger side of the Corolla, where the boy was sitting, was hit by a Dodge Ram 2500.
The young victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities said the driver of the Toyota declined transport to the hospital. No injuries to the driver of the Dodge Ram were reported.
At this time, no charges have been reported as an investigation remains ongoing.
