PORTLAND, OR — One person was killed early Sunday in a fiery single-vehicle wreck near southwest Portland’s Bridlemile neighborhood, reports KOIN 6 News.
The fatal accident occurred in the area of Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Southwest Patton Road at about 2:30 a.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said a vehicle collided with a pole near the intersection and caught fire.
Responding firefighters discovered the victim deceased in the vehicle after extinguishing the flames.
An investigation by the MCSO remains ongoing. Multiple other agencies, including Portland Fire & Rescue, Gresham Police Department, and the Multnomah County Medical Examiner, responded to the scene.
Officials noted the impact of the wreck caused thousands of local Comcast (Xfinity) customers to lose cable TV and internet access. All service was expected to be restored at around 10:00 p.m. the same day.
