PORTLAND, OR – A man was killed in a high-speed collision in the Hillsboro area last Friday afternoon.

According to a report by KOIN, the crash took place at about 2:20 p.m. when 65-year-old William L. Bartels, of Forest Grove, lost control of his vehicle near Farmington Road and Rood Bridge Road.

Bartels’s vehicle skidded off the roadway and went airborne before crashing into a ditch. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.

A puppy was also found in the vehicle and was taken to an emergency veterinarian for treatment.
