CROOK COUNTY, OR — A 32-year-old man died late Monday after being struck by a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 26 near east Prineville, according to KPTV.
Oregon State Police said the fatal incident occurred on the eastbound highway at milepost 32, which is about one mile east of Southeast Keystone Ranch Road. Troopers and first responders arrived on the scene at around 11:20 p.m.
The circumstances behind the crash remain unclear at this time, but authorities said the male pedestrian was in a traffic lane when he was hit by an eastbound semi-truck.
The victim died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed OSP.
A section of US-26 was blocked off for nearly four hours, impacting traffic in the area.
An investigation by the OSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit was underway.
