PORTLAND, OR — A man died Wednesday evening after his motorcycle collided with a minivan in southeast Portland’s Buckman neighborhood, reports KPTV.

The fatal accident happened at the intersection of Southeast 6th Avenue and Southeast Morrison Street. Officers with the Portland Police Bureau responded to the scene shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Details on the cause of the wreck have not been shared, but authorities said the male rider was rushed to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the minivan and their passenger were evaluated at the scene. Neither occupant had to be taken to a hospital.

An investigation by the PPB Major Crash Team was underway, but speed on the motorcyclist’s part is believed to have contributed to the fatal crash.

A section of Southeast 6th Avenue between Southeast Belmont Street and Southeast Alder Street was expected to be closed as investigators worked the area. Southeast Morrison Street from Southeast 7th Avenue to Southeast Grand Avenue was also scheduled to be blocked.
