PORTLAND, OR — A 55-year-old woman has been identified as the person who died Tuesday evening after being hit by a vehicle in northeast Portland, according to KATU.
The fatal pedestrian crash happened on Northeast 162nd Avenue, near Northeast Fargo Street. Portland Police’s North Precinct officers were called to the scene at about 6:50 p.m.
An early investigation indicates the woman was walking across the westbound lanes of Northeast 162nd Avenue when she was struck by a northbound vehicle.
Portland Police said the driver stopped and tried to apply life-saving measures to the victim, but the victim succumbed to her injuries.
At this time, no arrests have been made and no charges filed.
An investigation remains ongoing, but authorities suspect poor visibility in the area may have contributed to the accident.
