PORTLAND, OR — A 74-year-old woman died Tuesday evening after being hit and dragged by a vehicle in south Salem, according to KOIN 6 News.
Salem Police said the fatal incident occurred on Madrona Avenue Southeast.
An early investigation indicates the woman was crossing a driveway by foot when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. She was then dragged hundreds of feet to Woodbridge Court Southeast, where responding officers later found her.
First responders rushed the victim to Salem Health, but she later succumbed to her injuries, confirmed officials.
At this time, authorities have not released any information on the involved driver, who had fled the scene.
An investigation and search for the hit-and-run driver remain ongoing.
