PORTLAND, OR – According to KOIN6 News, a woman in a wheelchair was killed after being struck by a motorcyclist in Gresham on Saturday.

Authorities say the fatal accident took place on NE 162nd Avenue between Burnside Street and Gilsan Street on Saturday night. The motorcyclist involved fled the scene of the crash at first but was later caught and detained by officers. 30-year-old Michael James White was charged and jailed for charges of manslaughter and failing to perform the duties of a driver, both felonies, and misdemeanor DUI and reckless driving.

The woman in the wheelchair was killed in the impact and pronounced dead at the scene. Police continue to investigate this incident.
