TILLAMOOK COUNTY, OR — One person died last Wednesday, November 9, after a two-vehicle wreck that injured two others on U.S. Highway 101 in Rockaway Beach, reports KPTV.
Oregon State Police said the fatal collision occurred near milepost 50, just west of Lake Lytle.
A preliminary investigation shows a 69-year-old Tillamook man was driving a full Peterbilt tanker truck northbound when, for reasons still unknown, the truck veered past the center line. Moments after entering the southbound lanes, the truck collided with an oncoming Mazda CX-5 driven by an 81-year-old Campbell River, British Columbia resident.
A 79-year-old passenger in the Mazda, also of Campbell River, died from their injuries at the scene.
Medics transported both drivers to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.
At this time, no pending charges or citations have been reported.
