PORTLAND, OR — One person died Sunday morning after a two-vehicle wreck near the Powell Street Station shopping mall in southeast Portland, reports the Portland Police Bureau.
The fatal crash occurred at the corner of Southeast 80th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard (U.S. Highway 26). Officers from the bureau’s East Precinct responded to the scene at around 9:33 a.m.
Little information has been shared, but officers arrived to find one of the involved drivers deceased at the scene.
It was unclear whether the other driver was injured, but they stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Part of Southeast Powell Boulevard between Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast 79th Avenue was blocked off during the response.
The PPB’s Major Crash Team (MCT) was called to handle the investigation.
