MARION COUNTY, OR — A 58-year-old Salem woman was fatally injured last Friday, September 30, in a rollover collision on Interstate 5 just south of Woodburn, reports Statesman Journal.

Oregon State Police responded to the scene on the northbound lanes near the Butteville Road overpass in north Gervais shortly after 12:51 p.m.

According to officials, the woman was behind the wheel of a Toyota 4Runner on the northbound shoulder when she tried to merge into traffic. For reasons still unknown, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and collided with a guardrail before overturning.

The female driver died as a result of her injuries at the scene, confirmed OSP.

No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.

Authorities have not released further information at this time.
